OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

 

Integrated Premises Services Pty Limited (IPS) is committed to the Health and Safety of all employees and strives to be a leader in the field.

 IPS will take every reasonable precaution to eliminate hazards, practices and behaviour which could cause accident, injury or illness to employees, contractor's or the general public.

 

 

IPS will be accountable for:

Ensuring the Health and Safety at work is the individual and shared responsibility of employees at all levels, and of those who supply services to IPS. Managers will demonstrate their commitment to this policy through their personal involvement in the development and implementation of OH&S programs and early rehabilitation for injured workers.

 

 

IPS requires

Everyone working with and for IPS to follow safe work practices and accept responsibility for protecting themselves, their fellow employees and the general public.

 

 

Responsibilities of Employees

Employees at all levels are responsible for their own Health and Safety and that of their co-workers, and the general public and are required to:

 

  • Demonstrate responsible safe actions and care to other persons on site.
  •  Observe and practice IPS's safe work methods.
  •  Correctly use all appropriate tools, materials and personal protective equipment.
  •  Immediately report to their Supervisor all injuries, illness, incidents or near misses, no matter how minor.
  •  Report all hazards that are identified at work to their Supervisor and make suggestions for improvement.

  

Responsibilities of Contractors and Suppliers

  • Contractors and people who supply services to IPS are required to comply with this policy.
  •  IPS will ensure that all Contractors participate in Safety Induction.

  

Responsibilities of Health & Safety Representatives

The Health and Safety Representatives will be supported by employees at all levels and are responsible for:

 

  • Investigation, discussing and making recommendations about Health and Safety matters.
  •  Assisting in the identification of workplace risks and advising leaders accordingly.
  •  Monitoring all identified workplace risks to ensure action is taken.
  •  Monitoring the effectiveness of IPS's Safety Management System.

  

Review Process

  • Procedures and Policies are reviewed by the Health and Safety Representatives at their group meetings.
  •  The OH&S Policy is reviewed annually.

Responsibilities of Managers

  • Managers are charged with the responsibility of instigating, fostering and monitoring OH&S programs which will include appropriate measures in the following areas:
  •  Actively encouraging the involvement of all people.
  •  Providing and maintaining safe plant, equipment and working environment.
  •  Safe work systems and procedures.
  •  Induction, OH&S skills training.
  •  Hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control programs.
  •  Accident and incident investigation, reporting and record keeping, with associated preventative measures.
  •  Employment procedures which include pre-placement health evaluation.
  •  First-Aid, medical treatment and emergency facilities.
  •  Health promotion and surveillance programs.
  •  The setting of standards and appropriate supervision to ensure compliance with IPS's policies and OH&S legislation.
  •  Ensuring that all Contractors participate in Safety Induction.
  •  Developing, documenting and making known to staff under each manager's control, safety rules and procedures covering such matters as correct lifting techniques, proper housekeeping, use of protective clothing and equipment, fire prevention, use of machinery, maintenance procedures, authorised entry and usage (eg, certificates or licences), storage of dangerous substances, biological and chemical hazards, waste disposal and other matters relevant to the hazards of specific workplaces.

  

Responsibilities of Supervisors

  • Supervisors are accountable for ensuring a Safe and Healthy workplace by:
  •  Supporting and developing the Health and Safety Program in their workplace.
  •  Ensuring that plant, equipment and working environment remains safe.
  •  Informing and training team members so they can develop and maintain Safe and Healthy working conditions and systems.
  •  Ensuring team members work safely and without hazards as soon as they are observed.
  •  Investigation accidents/incidents and take corrective action.
  •  Observing and enforcing all legislation that applies to their place of work.
